Original Toronto Star caption: Mayor Tom Dougherty of Weston said today the town's five 15-minute evening power blackouts cut off the current which operates level crossing gates on Weston Rd. at John St. and King St.; and that he is receiving numerous protest. Don Smart; Queen's Drive; said today he narrowly missed being hit by a train at the John St. crossing last night. Mr. Smart said he misunderstood the lantern signal of a flagman because a car had stopped in front of him and he thought the flagman was waving him on across the tracks which would normally have the gates down. I had cleared the crossing my four feet when a train flew past at the back; Smart said. [Incomplete]
