Original Toronto Star caption: Jews Mark High Holy Days; Rabbi Albert Pappenheim and Cantor David Greengarten assist ritual director Theodore Bloom as he sounds the shofar (bibilical ram's horn) during a repeat of the ceremony in B'nai Israel-Beth David Synagogue. Jewish New Year--Rosh Hashanah-was celebrated from Sunday sundown to Tuesday sundown. The 10 days from Sunday till Jewish Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) next Wednesday are period of Penitence.
