Original Toronto Star caption: The Sikh community in Metro has grown from a handful to an estimated 20;000 in the last 15 years. Here outside the Shromani Sikh Society Temple on Pape Ave. are some of its 2;000 members; many of whom follow the traditional customs of their native Punjab. They are one of Metro's most visible ethnic groups because of turbans and beards worn by many Sikh men. Some also carry ornamental daggers.
