Original Toronto Star caption: Play is passe in his teaching; Five children got a lesson within a lesson yesterday from Siegfried Engelmann; a research associate at the University of Illinois; at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Though they were children of OISE staff; they were used to demonstrate a new idea in preparing disadvantaged youngsters for regular school teaching instead of kindergarten learning-through-play. He emphasizes language; believing it the key to child's disadvantage. Class was held before 150 city; university and provincial educators who met at institute.
