Last night's storm snapped eight hydro poles like matchsticks; bringing wires down across Highway 27 just south of the Dixon Rd. overpass. Traffic was stopped in both the northbound and southbound lanes as crews tried to clear the high-voltage lines off the road. Some drivers were trapped in their cars by the wires. The storm also brought down trees; drenched commuters and pelted gardens with large hallstones. Cooler temperatures are forecast for today; however.
