Original Toronto Star caption: A Handshake seals it after union leaders John Wolansky and Robert Willis told principal Albert Smith (left) that their men won't stop removal of garbage piled near the school. The striking collectors made the move after school officials and parents complained about worsening smell and the danger of rats. Many of the parents had taken their children out of school to protest the situation.
