Original Toronto Star caption: During a walkout by 400 postal workers at the main post office last night; vice-president John Potts of the Toronto Union of Postal Workers appeals for patience. The wildcat strike was in protest against an extension of conciliation talks on a new contract and against working conditions. Members complained of overloaded mail bags and fumes from trucks. The walkout interrupted mail sorting; some mail posted in Toronto for Metro destinations will be delayed a day.
