Original Toronto Star caption: Harnett: The recent controversy on wire-tapping has prompted one member of Parliament; Robert Stanbury; to introduce a private bill when Parliament reopens that would outlaw wire-tapping except under the strictest ground rules. What are your views on wire-tapping; is public privacy in danger? The devices of wire-tapping and other sophisticated devices are becoming more and more a part of police strategy in combatting crime. Do you encourage the use of such devices and do you feel them worthwhile aids in fighting crime?
