Original Toronto Star caption: East-end church a historic site; An old frame schoolhouse dragged along Kingston Rd. to woodbine Ave. by an oxen team in 1853 became the first St. John the Baptist Norway Church. The bell that rang two years later when Bishop John Strachan consecrated first church tolled again yesterday as Lieutenant-Governor Pauline McGibbon unveiled a plaque designating area an historic site. Canon E. R. Bagley (left) applauds in front of present Anglican church; built on site in 1893; and enlarged in 1919.
