Original Toronto Star caption: Leading 1,400 persons in singing old familiar hymns, Rev. Hedd-Wynn Williams conducts a hymnfest last night in Convocation Hall at the University of Toronto. The hymnfest was based on the Welsh Gymanfu Ganu, in which various groups rehearse hymns and come together to sing them as an act of worship. The crowd made the rafters ring with Negro spirituals and hymns like Abide with Me.
