Original Toronto Star caption: Hasmig Possian; Cumberland St. couturiere who last year dressed several Saudi princesses. Black tie: It could be short or mid-calf; but it should be very dressy. For instance; I'm doing a gold lace dress that's mid-calf. It's got to be more than a dinner dress. The longer the length the simpler; the shorter; the more dressy. Cocktail parties when men are asked to wear a dark business suit: A short cocktail dress in a knee length or a velvet dinner suit with a silk blouse. a lot of women confuse daytime silk dresses with cocktail dresses. A simple silk dress is not appropriate. white tie: I'd go floor-length. Say a beaded lace or taffeta gown or a strapless chiffon. Evening pyjamas: People usually wear them for entertaining at home. It's more of an eccentric type of look. Tuxedos and smokings for women: I personally don't like them; but I've seen them on certain women and they look stunning.
