Original Toronto Star caption: Speechless boy gets an Electric Voice, Handicapped by cerebral palsy that leaves him unable to speak, 12-year-old Sam Savone tests a newly-invented device that permits him to communicate on a panel of flashing lights by starting and stopping them with a special U-shaped switch behind his head. Like many cerebral palsy victims, his movements are limited, but he can nod his head. Demonstrating the invention that took 1,500 hours of his time, Ches Noseworthy points to panel, watched by Dr. Colin McLaurin of Ontario Crippled Children's Centre where device will be tested.
