Original Toronto Star caption: A Prize-Winning Rider-Who Can't Walk, Winner of Junior Class riding trophy at the first horse show held by Community Association for Riding for the Disabled, 7-year-old Mary Jane Sparling, of Toronto, is held by father, Rev. W. J. Sparling, as the horse she rode, Penny Arcade, gets a pat from Mrs. Michael Sifton who presented prize at Stouffville farm of Fred Neehuis yesterday. A cerebral palsy victim, Mary Jane has to walk with crutches. Volunteer association has special equipment and five horses trained to respond to vocal commands to teach the disabled the fun of riding.
