Original Toronto Star caption: Paramedic hopefuls begin training, Trainees John Fader, left, and Glen Ruppell watch closely as program director Andrew Duncan demonstrates how to ventilate an injured person at Toronto Institute of Medical Technology yesterday. Fifty-four paramedic hopefuls, including 28 from Metro's ambulance service, are receiving advanced training in cardiac and trauma life-saving techniques during the year-long course. The creation of the paramedics is a result of repeated calls for such an emergency health system throughout the province.
