Original Toronto Star caption: An Auctioneer in cowboy hat calls for bids as two men hold up the chair he's selling. Also sold at auction were hundreds of quilts and a two-storey red birdhouse, which went for a price the deep-voiced auctioneer said doesn't even pay for the lumber. The fair was organized by Mennonites in New Hamburg and in neighboring cities, towns, villages and farms. I like the bustle of the people around, a Waterloo high school girl said as she sold bright-coloured balloons.
