Original Toronto Star caption: Just in case: Peel Regional Police stress, their hope that an officer's revolver will never be needed, but a modern firing range at the force's Brampton headquarters helps teach what's necessary if the worst should happen. Constable Bruce Chapman (left) takes aim and a battered target (above) shows the results. Moving and pop-up targets are also used. Spent bullets are captured in traps and the lead is recycled.

Harbor police scuba divers plunge into the ice-covered water of the harbor; led by 2nd Officer Ernie Norrey (top). Following him are Brian Kennedy; David Bryan and Ulrich Ertle. In the water; only the tops of their heads show (bottom) as they practise holding their breath to conserve air and keep in shape in case a car plunges into the lake. They practise all year; even in 30-degree weather like today.
