Original Toronto Star caption: Jays' pitchers making a hit, If this is 1985, it must mean that pitchers have to bat in the World Series (but not in the playoffs) and Jim Acker (above) gets shown which end of the bat is up by Cliff Johnson. At left, Tom Henke takes a mighty swing while Doyle Alexander shows his bunting stance below. In even-numbered years, designated hitters are used, as in the American League, but in odd-numbered years it's National League rules so DHs Johnson and Al Oliver would likely be used mainly as pinch-hitters. But there is a series with Kansas City first.
