Original Toronto Star caption: The start was good anyway. Playoff Player (No. 7) breaks alertly from the gate under jockey Larry Attard in yesterday's first race at Greenwood. The gelding was a handy winner of the 4 1/2-furlong sprint; but he pulled up sore past the finish line and was vanned off. Blue Tail Fly (11) doesn't get the best of starts here but he raced with the leader all the way and finished second; three-quarters of a length behind.
