Original Toronto Star caption: Auspicious opening: The weather was perfect for yesterday's opening card of the Woodbine spring meeting and a crowd of 15;008 was attracted to the Etobicoke track. A lot of the fans found their spot in the sun to watch the field in the sixth race negotiate the first turn in the 1 1/16-mile event.
