Original Toronto Star caption: Canadian rowers badly outclassed. Canada's entry in the four-without-coxswain event in Olympic rowing finished last of five in its heat yesterday at Ile Notre-Dame basin in Montreal. With a time of 6.13.09 over 2;000 metres; the Canadians were about 10 1/2 seconds off East Germany's winning pace. Russian; New Zealand and Norwegian crews finished right behind East Germans; who advance to semi-finals along with Americans and West Germans; who won other heats. They rowed in warm weather.
