Original Toronto Star caption: A field of 32 runners takes to the streets of Leaside in yesterday's first annual Rich Ferguson Memorial invitational mile. A Neil McNeil tandem of Paul Dollemont and David Ferrari placed first and second in the senior boys event. Dollemont won with a time of four minutes; 28.0 seconds. Ferguson; who died in 1986; graduated from Leadside High School in 1951 and was the first Canadian to win a track scholarship to a U.S. university.
