The Toronto Star-Maple Leaf Games got underway today with the indoor track and field meet of Toronto public schools and more than 100 young athletes competed in a score of events. Karen Brown of Runnymede (right) edged out Brenda Johnson of Essex in the hurdles for 13-year-old girls. Canada's top track-and-field athlets now are women; some of whom will compete tonight.
