Original Toronto Star caption: One of the leading Salomes of our day; Grace Bumbry's final monologue; in which Salome makes love to the severed head of John the Baptist; was as vivid a demonstration of passionate singing as we've heard this Canadian Opera Company season; says Star music critic William Littler of Saturday night's production. This is the third time the company has tried to crack Salome and it is the most successful. Remainder of the run is sold out.
