Original Toronto Star caption: An American Bald Eagle; capture in wood as it devours a coho salmon clenched in its talons; is touched up by Glassford. It took him 400 hours to complete - even the pebbles are carved - and is part of the James Gairdner collection. Although he sells most sculptures to U.S. colelctors; he's keeping 35 pieces for a showing in Toronto in November. I like to think of them as three-dimensional paintings; caught in a spontaneous moment.
