Chinese community welcomes Shanghai Ballet

Toronto's Chinese Community yesterday flocked to Union Station to offer a traditional welcome to 150 members of the Shanghai Ballet from the People's Republic of China. Dragons; balloons and streamers drew applause fromthe visitors pictured here. Troupe arrived by train from Montreal and tonight will open at the O'Keefe Centre; performing the revolutionary ballet The White Haired Girl. It's the ballet's first tour in the West and they have run into similar welcomes elsewhere.
