Original Toronto Star caption: Area Residents want to keep two-storey log cabin and 1.8-acre property on Riverdale Dr. as a cultural centre although it is costing Etobicoke thousands of dollars a year in upkeep. A borough staff report also states there is a need for an art facility in this area. Council's general committee will discuss the report and hear views in fall.

Disappearing act: Henry Skritek and his pet lion, photographed before Scarborough's new bylaw banning exotic pets from residential areas, appear to have been separated. Neighboring Centennial Dr. residents had complained about the lion and it hasn't been seen for at least the last two weeks even though Skritek vowed to fight the bylaw and keep the lion.

Frank Crane: The opera singer turned antique dealer was tired of the urban jungle so he retreated into the woods with his wife, Verena, and built himself a log cabin. And you can see the cabin Frank built! It's cathedral sized. Just the thing for housing such treasures as the Chinese tomb figure from the T'ang period (618 to 906 A.D.) which he is holding. These things are on trust, he says.
