Original Toronto Star caption: A blast from the past: Etobicoke Fire Chief Bryan Mitchell demonstrates use of 120-year-old 'speaking trumpet' once used to amplify the voices of chiefs directing the fighting of fires. Mitchell wears a fireman's hat from Jamaica; New York. It dates back to 1855. The Etobicoke chief has a collection of 40 fireman's hats.
