Original Toronto Star caption: Wawa's snow - covered main street, where idle miners walk aimlessly, killing time. The town's Algoma iron ore mine is paralyzed because the strike stalled Algoma steel mill can't use its ore. Reeve Harry Dann (above), chief chemist at the mine, faces problems of finding money to pay township bills, extending tax deadlines. Economic hardship faces the people of Wawa. Some have already moved - as far away as Saskatchewan.
