Original Toronto Star caption: Ablish Endowment Fund; The old gray church in the square received its charter when Mary Lambert Swale gave $25;000 for the purpose; and Col. John Simcoe McAuley gave land in what is now the heart of downtown Toronto. The carved pulpit; baptismal font and ornamental woodwork of the choir loft (2) are the same to-day as they were when it opened in 1846. Friends of the church are striving to raise an endowment fund of $100;000.
