Original Toronto Star caption: A giant ladle of cement is guided into position to be poured by workmen building the new Toronto ferry docks that will replace present dock facilities. The docks are regularly jammed beyond capacity on hot summer weekends. While the three tough little ferry boats operating between the Island and the mainland can handle 40;000 passengers daily; the line-ups on such heavy days sometimes mean a three-hour wait. A new ferry; however; would cost about $1;000;000.
