Original Toronto Star caption: The earliest days of Toronto are coming to light as high school students; working with trowels and whisk brushes; scrape through a foot of topsoil at Fort York; digging up musket balls and broken plates left by the garrison of what was one a lonely British outpost. The Royal Ontario Muscom and the Toronto Historical Board direct the work. Students spend two weeks there; with seminars each day. Work will go on until it's too cold and the ground is frozen hard.
