Original Toronto Star caption: This imposing residence at 186 Beverley St. was once the home of George Brown; politician and founder of the Glove newspaper; who was assassinated in 1880. A bitter foe of John A. Macdonald; he nevertheless formed a coalition government with him to bring in Confederation. Still in its original state; the house is occupied by the Toronto Association for Retarded Children.
