Original Toronto Star caption: Good old days? Prices posted in the window at Arnold's Market, Bloor and Bathurst Sts., in 1927 are low enough by today's standards to make your mouth water. For example, you could get leg of lamb for 34 cents a pound and your choice of rump roast or prime rib roast for 22 cents. Leg of pork was a real bargain at 21 cents. Of course, if you were to look at the average wage in 1927, you would find that we're using less of our pay cheques today for the same items.
