Original Toronto Star caption: It was buildings such as this, erected at a time when fire-proof construction was but little understood, that added fuel to the flames that swept on before the wind. Many of the destroyed buildings were more than fifty years of age.

Reproduction of image created 189-? Later known as the Wyld-Darling Building, it was destroyed in the Great Toronto Fire of 1904.
