Original Toronto Star caption: That lighthouse; built on the island's Gibraltor point 136 years ago; at what then was the edge of the water saw many wrecks in the old sailing days when it was not unusual for a farmer to build a schooner and sail his own wheat across the lake to U.S. ports. The first lighthouse tender was a Durnan. The islands; of course; needed snow plows after the big blizzard.
