Original Toronto Star caption: Loretto Abbey, built in 1930 in North York is mother house and one of the schools of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary in America. Institute's work brought to Canada from Ireland in 1847 by five nuns, one of whom Ellen Dease, founded the American branch.
