Original Toronto Star caption: Four years ago this was a refuse heap. Now the 39-acre site is a showpiece and the home of 164 glistening new cars for the east-west subway. The yards are humming with activity even though the new line won't come into operation until the end of the year. New cars arrive at the rate of one a day.
