Original Toronto Star caption: Riverdale Zoo's last autumn leaves. Colin Aspinall; who's not quite 2; feeds an autumn leaf to a Ilama in Riverdale Zoo yesterday while his twin; Blair; watches. It's a scene that's been repeated every fall since the zoo was opened in 1887; but this is the last autumn for Riverdale Zoo. Next year the $26-million new Metro zoo will open in Scarborough: 80 times as large as Riverdale and housing nearly 4;000 animals and birds in comfort.
