Her mother was shot near Repulse Bay; Northwest Territories by an Eskimo hunter. The cub came into the care of Peter Ernerk; a wildlife official with the territorial government; shown petting the animal with wife Marie and children Teddy (left) and Isiah. The family accompanied the cub during the plane ride.
