Original Toronto Star caption: Christmas celebrations in Louisiana's Cajun country usually get under way on Dec. 11 with a giant bonfire at Oak Alley Plantation on the Mississippi River. This alley leading up to the mansion was planted by Charles Durand who made a fortune growing sugar in the days before the Civil War.
