Original Toronto Star caption: Miss G. I. Lailey of Napanee. Archibald Barnes, foremost Canadian portrait painter, whose splendid canvas of Aemilius Jarvis, Sr., is hung on the line in this year's British Royal Academy Exhibition, at Burlington House, London, England, painted the charming portrait of the lovely Canadian girl shown here. Besides being an excellent likeness, the portrait is distinguished by the delicay of handling of the texture of the dress and a beautiful reserved scheme of color.
