Original Toronto Star caption: Taking time out for relaxation at Canadian Open tennis championships at Toronto Lawn Tennis Club yesterday, Soviet ballet dancer Mikhail Barryshnikov (left) seems to be expressing his disbelief at the classical dance pose of Wimbledon champion Jimmy Connors, captured in photo above by Star photographer Reg Innell. After all, when you spend your working day tirelessly perfecting your arabesques (a posture in ballet in which the body is bent forward with legs and arms extended), who wants to watch a tennis pro make it look so easy? Connors, by the way, was knocked out of men's singles competition by Juan Gisbert of Spain. The hero of 14,500 people in the Forum at Ontario Place Wednesday night, when he danced lead role in National Ballet's production of La Sylphide, Baryshnikov has been engaged to perform with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in October, when Manitoba audiences will get their first look at him.
