Original Toronto Star caption: Mayor is chief for a day. Toronto's fire department inaugurated its centennial celebrations yesterday with official opening of College St. station. Mayor David Crombie chopped red ribbon apart with a fire axe. Building originally was erected in 1878, was modified with a hose tower and clock in 1895 and housed city's first motorized pumper in 1911.
