Original Toronto Star caption: Working alone on the stage, Ruth Draper becomes a hundred characters by the sheer magic of her art. Her wardrobe consists of six shawls, a couple of absurd hats, an apron of two, a cane, an umbrella and a raincoat. Her fame has spread not only through America and Europe but her tour of South Africa was triumphant. Some years ago she went to London for three performances and played to capacity audiences for six weeks. A week's engagement in New York some time ago lengthened into 19 weeks and the following year at the same theatre broke records with a 28 weeks solo engagement.
