By then 11 per cent of the population will be over 65 and economists warn the burden on workers to support the aged will be intolerable and that runaway inflation will seriously reduce pensions.

Where railways now divide city dwellers from the lake. Erskine sees gardens, housing, shops and theatres springing up over the next 20 years - adding new life to the city. But he wants that Metro's highrise suburbs could become ghettos.
