Original Toronto Star caption: Subway beating victim Shamshudin Kanji is in Queensway Hospital with broken legs after he was beaten by three drunk youths in Islington subway station Saturday while 70 people watched. Kanji asked to have his face shielded by a nurse because be feared further beatings. The Clarion Rd. resident immigrated from Tanzania recently. Police say attack definitely appeared to have racial overtones.
