Although Hugo attributes some illustrations to Bewick, ''[t]he most that can be said is that some of the woodcuts are copied after him or produced under his influence, and may have been done in his workshop'' (Roscoe & Brimmell). At foot of t.p.: Price Twopence. First and last pages are pastedowns. Roscoe & Brimmell note watermark in one copy with date ''181- ... [perhaps] 1812 or 1819''; Pierpont Morgan Library records watermark ''RT & Co'' in three of its five copies, with various dates: 181-, 1811, and 1815. One of two Brown University copies has the RT & Co watermark with date 1812. Title page on verso of first leaf. Wood engraving of Stanhope printing press with ''Hedderwick printer, Glasgow'' on p. [31].
