Original Toronto Star caption: John Gilbert, 39, actor, writer, producer, and once known as the great lover of the screen, died suddenly from a heart attack to-day. His death was revealed when the fire department was called to his Bellaire residence in an effort to revive him with an inhalator. Gilbert was dead on their arrival, firemen said.
