Original Toronto Star caption: Down and out: Referee Sammy Luftspring counts over Bermudian Roy Johnstone last night as Canadian welterweight contender Clyde Gray stalks to his corner. Gray managed to overcome the tough Johnstone with an 8th-round TKO, much to the relief of the men in his corner who were worried that the Toronto boxer himself might be injured in the brawl. The fight was supposed to be tune-up for Gray's match next week in Halifax against Kevin Odis.
