Team Canada hopefuls?including the Great Gretzky, who was caught trying to catch his breath, right, after working out?were put through their paces yesterday as medicals and fitness testing were conducted at their hotel headquarters. The serious business begins today when scrimmages and practices, which are closed to the public, get under way at 9 a.m. at Maple Leaf Gardens. Head coach-general manager Mike Keenan has put together a hectic schedule of practices, intrasquad and exhibition games in order to give everyone a good look before he starts paring down the 50-plus player roster. The first intra-squad game is slated for Thursday night at Maple Leaf Gardens.
